[News] The 20th Anniversary of KCB2016-06-09Hit:1250

In commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of its founding, KAIST College of Business held the Vision Declaration Ceremony to share its vision of becoming a top business school by the integration of business and technology on April 8th 2016. More than 200 people attended the ceremony to celebrate, including the President of KAIST, Sung-Mo Kang, the Chairman of SK Group, Tae-won Chey, and the Chairman of Macquarie Korea, John Walker. Alumni and students were invited as well.

The Dean of KCB, Professor Tongsuk Kim, presented the main accomplishments achieved through the 20-year history of the school. KCB has implemented many educational innovations as a leader in the integration of management and technology.  KCB is, for example, the first full-time MBA program to be offered in Korea and it has a number of Specialized MBA programs with industry specific curriculums. These endeavors have greatly contributed to business education in Korea.

KCB is accredited by international organizations (AACSB, GMAC, EQUIS) and it became a member of PIM in 2013. According to the recent Financial Times (FT) Ranking, the Executive Education Program in KCB is 20th in the world and 1st in Asia.

The strategic plan of KCB is to become the best business school in Asia, and a top 20 business school in the world by 2025. KCB will exert more effort, focusing on 4 key success factors: Top Notch Education, Research Excellence, Globalization Impact and a Digital Learning Platform.

In the ceremony, KCB awarded Plaques of Appreciation and Plaques of Contribution to the people who have contributed to the development of KCB. Then KCB appointed five people as members of the KCB Development Committee. During the event, various performances took place, a photo exhibition for looking back at the 20-year history of KCB, the writing of messages to KCB and a dance performance under the theme of “Struggling in Silence” were held to commemorate the anniversary.

KCB has received congratulatory telegrams from many international organizations and business schools around the world. Tsinghua University, School of Economics and Management, China sent this message of congratulations and best wishes to KCB: “The 20th Anniversary is not only a milestone, but also a new starting point. KCB is expected to continue to advance and make an even greater impact in management education.”

KCB will continue pursuing excellence in business education, promising that the next 20 years will be even more dynamic and successful.
