KAIST World"s 24th & Asia"s 1st in FT Executive Education Ranking

The Financial Times (FT) has ranked KAIST Executive Education Program as the best in Asia and the 24th in the world in the FT Executive Education Rankings 2014. KAIST College of Business is the only Korean business school in the ranking. FT evaluates executive education of the world-top class business schools based on several criteria including course design, faculty, and new skills & learning.

KAIST Executive Education Program has been ranked as the best in Asia for three years in the row, and 24thin the world. It was ranked 28th in the world in 2012 and in 2013. Columbia Business School and MIT Sloan School are ranked as the 25th and the 30th, respectively.

In particular, KCB is highly evaluated in several items including Follow-up (No. 3), Preparation (No. 9), New Skills & Learning (No. 14), International location (No. 16), and Facilities (No. 16). KCB is also received good scores in Teaching methods & materials (No. 17) and Partner schools (No. 17).

‘Follow-up’ item, in which KCB is ranked as the third, reflects the survey subject to alumni. KAIST College of Business provides lifelong learning system, seminars & forums, executive education, online knowledge service against the rapidly changing business environment. The school builds unity among alumni and their families by holding New Year ceremony, homecoming day, year-end party, and sports tournaments.

It is worthwhile to note that KCB’s well-structured curriculum is proven to be compatible in the world stage. ‘Preparation (No. 9)’ item is rated higher than that of INSEAD (No. 11) in France, and ‘New Skills & Learning (No. 14)’ item is rated higher than those of Kellogg Business School (No. 20) and London Business School (No. 21). Jae-Hyeon Ahn, Professor and Director of Executive Education Program, said that “We update academic curriculum every year to reflect to satisfy the needs of Korean companies to develop their core managers into capable CEOs of the future.”

KCB restructured its Executive MBA Program to deal with the change in business environment and new demands in business education. The school united Advanced Innovative Management Program (AIM) and Advanced Technology Management Program (ATM), as well as created Advanced Program for Innovation and Change Management (AIC). The AIC provides essential knowledge and expertise to mid and high level managers aiming to move into top-level decision making positions.

Minhi Hahn, Dean of KAIST College of Business, said “MIT Sloan School was the role model of KAIST College of Business, but KCB is already surpassed Sloan School in the ranking. We confirm KCB as one of the global prestigious MBA since its Executive Education Program has ranked the best in Asia every year.”

On the 13th of May, FT published the FT Executive Education Rankings 2013. The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland is ranked as the best, same as the last year, followed by University of Chicago Booth. In Asia, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is ranked 29th in the world. KCB and CEIBS are the only two schools in the top 50 program providers.
