The Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) is the premier engineering and science research university in Korea and ranks among the most prestigious research universities in the world. In 1992, ABET(Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology in USA) assessed the KAIST graduate program to belong within top 10% of the US universities. In 2006, the TIMES magazine listed KAIST among the top 50 technology universities in the world. The KAIST Business School, located in Seoul, Korea, offered Korea first full-time MBA program in 1996 and was accredited by AACSB in 2003. It was the chair and founding member of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) which was established in 2004 to provide leadership and collaboration among the leading business schools in the Asia-Pacific Region. With over 800 graduate students (600+ MBA, 200+ MS/PhD) and sixty faculty members in three schools (Graduate School of Management, Graduate School of Finance, Graduate School of Information and Media Management), the KAIST Business School ranks among the best business schools in Asia-Pacific, aspiring to become a top-tier business school in the world. The Position of Dean ?Expectations: As chief academic and administrative officer, the dean has overall responsibility for providing the vision and leadership needed to improve the stature of the KAIST business school in research and education. The dean is expected to be in charge of the school strategic planning, financial and personnel management, external relationships development, and fundraising. The dean represents the KAIST business school in the university and business community and performs other duties assigned by the KAIST president and vice president of the Seoul campus. Qualifications: Successful applicants will have (1) a demonstrated record of strong academic achievement; (2) a capacity for visionary leadership; (3) a collaborative management style ; 4) a commitment to improving the research and education stature of the school; (5) a willingness to develop strategic external relationships with the alumni community, external advisors, and corporate sponsors; and (6) an experience for leading an innovative and responsive academic enterprise. Appointment: The position of Dean is a KAIST senior administrative post and comes with a tenured, full professorship. Competitive salary with generous fringe benefits (housing, incentive, etc.) is offered dependent upon qualifications. The anticipated starting date for this position is August, 2008 or earlier.
