Dear all, Please find information regarding summer 2009 courses registration below. < Summer 2009 Course Registration > The following announcement is to provide students with information on how to register, change/cancel registration, and pay the tuition for classes to be opened for summer school (Aprill 20(Monday)~24 (Friday), 2009). Please keep the schedule in mind and do not miss the scheduled period. 1. Classes: See attachment or go to the homepage (URL: http://portal.kaist.ac.kr → Webcais → Administrative affairs → Classes) 2. Available credits: Undergraduate, graduate and PhD students can take up to 9 credits (including research credits). 3. Registration 1) When: Apil 20(Mon) to Apil 24(Fri) 2) How: Registration is done via web or CAIS System. ※ Registration via web: Access http://kaipa.kaist.ac.kr directly to register 3) System availability: A student can access the system from 12:30 on the first day of the registration to 24:00 on the final day of the registration. 4) Where: Anywhere a student can access web or CAIS 5) Procedure Check what classes are opened → Register via web or CAIS → Complete registration and print out a hard copy of registration details → Obtain approval from supervising professor on the hard copy and submit it to the office of respective department/major. 6) Please note the following: ① Registration must be completed within the specified period(s) as a student can register via web or CAIS System. ② It is impossible to change the registration once the registration is completed via web or CAIS System. In order to change the registration, contact the your major office to request “cancellation of completion. ③ Registration by someone other than the student is not allowed. A student must have a Portal ID to access the registration system. ※ For inquiry on Portal ID, please contact IT Development Team (#042-350-5276) ④ Those who are scheduled to graduate this semester cannot register for Winter classes ⑤ Re-registration is not available unless you are a graduate or Ph. D student who received a ‘F’ grade in required courses (Mandatory general courses, Mandatory major courses). ⑥ Individual research for the undergraduate program will be open for all departments. Students can sign up for individual research based on guidance by a thesis supervisor or a supervising professor of a given academic field regardless of the number of credits they have acquired so far. ⑦ Graduation research will not be open for winter school in compliance with the guidelines for operating research subjects in the undergraduate program. 4. Who: All registered students (Undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D programs) 5. Cross registration between graduate schools 1) Students enrolled in each school have the priority of course registration. 2) You need to submit a course instructor’s approval form (original hard copy) prior to register in other school’s courses, 6. Change of registration 1) When : June. 1(Mon) to June. 5(Fri) 2) How: Registration can be changed via web or CAIS System. 3) System availability: The system will be open from 12:30 on the first day of the registration to 24:00 on the final day of the registration. 4) Procedure Check what class(es) need(s) to be changed → Change via web or CAIS → Complete the change and print out a hard copy of change details → Obtain approval from supervising professor on the hard copy and submit it to the office of respective major. 7. Cancellation of registration 1) When : - Master’s, doctoral students(class of 2009) and undergraduate (class of 2006 or earlier)students : June. 8, 2009 (Mon) ~ June. 12(Fri) - Master’s, doctoral students(class of 2008 or earlier) : June. 8(Mon) ~ June.19(Fri) 2) How: Registration can be cancelled via web or CAIS system. 3) The system will be open from 12:30 on the first day of the registration to 24:00 on the final day of the registration. 4) Procedure: Same as the procedure for changing the registration 5) Remarks - Students cannot sign up for another class during the cancellation period and can only cancel (a) class(es) already registered. ※ Cancellation is never allowed at any time but the specified cancellation period. - The class(es) cancelled during this period will be excluded from grade evaluation and will be marked as “w,” which stands for “withdrawal.” 8.
