Please read the following information from Cologne University and find the attached files for your application. Please note that the application deadline is March 7th, 2011 by 13:00 and the selection interview is scheduled on March 8th (Tue) 11:30-13:00 to meet the nomination deadline. If you have any questions, please contact Hyang-Sook Lee at International Center (Tel: 02-958-3241). Thank you.

1. To add depth and background to the European aspect of the summer school, we have four institutional visits this year to give students detailed insights into the European political and financial institutions and into how the European economy works. We will visit the European Central Bank and the German Federal Bank in Frankfurt and, a week later, visit the European Commission and the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. We are really excited about getting confirmation for all four institutional visits already!

2. The business project this year is with Siemens; “INCOTERMS 2010 - IMPACT ANALYSIS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SIEMENS AG”. A tour of the Siemens’ works in Cologne will kick-off the business project in the first week.

3. In the last week of the program we will visit both Ford and Accenture (to be confirmed), visit the Cologne headquarters and talk with company representatives.

4. Costs:

All participants must pay the compulsory semester contribution of 215 Euro directly after arrival. Participants should plan in up to 80 Euro for the return train ticket to Brussels (will most likely cost less).

Accommodation in shared flats or home stays will cost between 400 and 500 Euro for the month, including utility bills. We will help participants find accommodation and will do our best to match students’ budgets. We can also help students find a hotel for the month, if they prefer.

5.The overall program will be worth 21 ECTS in total and cover 124 contact hours (plus self-study time). An overview with the course descriptions and a detailed breakdown of hours and ECTS credit points is attached.

6.There will be class on the first weekend of the program (June 3, 4th & 5th). We recommend arrival on June 1st or 2nd in the morning. A provisional schedule for the CISP (calendar view) is also attached.

7.We will accept nominations by e-mail up until March 15thth, 2011. Please nominate students earlier, if possible, if they need an entry visa for Germany.

We recommend that students have a CEF level of B2 in English. Knowledge of German is not required.

Just let us know the student’s full name, e-mail address and nationality and we will arrange the rest directly with the nominated participants.
