Registration guide for the 2016/Winter 2016-12-05Hit:1200

We'd like to make an announcement of 2016 Winter semester 2016. 12. 22(Thur.) 2017. 1. 31(Tue.).

Detailed information on class lists, course registration, add/drop courses, and withdrawal from courses is as below.

 

1. KCB course registration process simplified

Starting from 2012 Spring Semester, no hardcopy(course registration application,

add/drop application) will need to be submitted to the corresponding major offices. However, in case you want to

add or drop courses that’s already exceeded the maximum limit or falling short of the minimum number of students,

you still need to submit the hard copy to your major office after the approval of your course professor. 

 

1) Course Registration: Simplified in 2 steps

    Course Registration Keep the printed Course registration application (by student)

2) Course add/drop: Simplified in 2 steps but *if needed, further process needs to be done

Course Guidance from Advisor Professor → ② Course add/drop Keep the printed course add/drop application (student) *if needed, go through

( course professor approval Submit hardcopy to major office )

      *If needed: process ~ should be done in case your course already exceed the maximum limit or fall short of the minimum number(5) of students.

 

2. Cross course registration policy

1) During course registration period

      Students can register for the courses open for one's major only, due to the priority matters.   

2) During course add/drop period

       To give opportunities to taking courses across all majors, students are allowed to register for courses

open for other majors from the first date of the course change period.

         The courses for cross course registration are limited. Students must check course registration system first

to find out if the course they are willing to register is open for cross course registration. If you want to take the limited course,

you must submit a hard copy of the approval with the instructor and academic advisor's sign on to the major office.

    5.  Add/drop courses

     1) Period : 12. 22(Thur.) 12:30 12. 28(Wed.) 23:59

     2) Use Web System ( http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) (not available on mobile equipment)

     3) Course add/drop: Simplified in 2 steps but *if needed, further process needs to be done

        4) Matters to be attended to while registering

     Students must apply for courses during the given period only.

     Online application system requires a portal access (with PORTAL ID) For further information

regarding  PORTAL ID, contact IT development Team (T. 042-350-5276)

    Those who are scheduled to graduate this semester cannot register for Summer/Winter classes

 Thesis for Graduate Students” courses are not offered during the Summer/Winter semester

in accordance with the guidelines for the operation of undergraduate research courses

       You can apply for the courses on the web, even though you didn't apply for any courses during the previous Course Registration period.

 6. Withdrawal from courses

   1) Period : 12. 29(Thur.) 12:30 – 2017. 1. 4(Wed.) 23:59

  2) Use Web System ( http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) (not available on mobile equipment)

   3) Procedure : same as the procedure for Courses add/drop

   4) Miscellaneous : the grade of a withdrawn course is not included in the grade point average;


students are given a  "W" (withdrawal) on their transcripts.
