KGSM ranked in the Top 10 of "Asia’s Best MBA Schools" by Asiaweek 2002-12-24Hit:9317

May 8, 2000--------KAIST Graduate School of Management ranked in Top 10 of three categories of "Asia’s Best MBA Schools" released on May 5 by Asiaweek . The School ranked in 7th for the Best Full-Time MBA Programs, 5th for the Best Part-Time MBA Programs and 7th for the Best Executive MBA programs. The School also was placed on 18th for the category of MBA schools by Reputation. Another category was the Best Distance Programs, but KGSM was not considered because the School does not offer a distance program. Asiaweek conducted the rankings of MBA Schools in Asia for the first time. The survey considers the position of a school based on academic reputation (20%) and objective attributes (80%), such as student selectivity, faculty resources and linkages with corporations and government. Within the category of MBA Schools by Reputation, each participating MBA schools were ask to rate each other; moreover, eight international business schools, including Anderson at UCLA, Haas School of Business and INSEAD, gave ratings. In addition, 130 Asian companies were asked to rate the MBA schools in their country. The School also received extra weight on starting annual salaries of MBA graduates, which it ranked 4th along with China Europe International Business School, Melbourne Business School and Asian Institute of Management. "It is encouraging to see the position of our full-time MBA program---which is the most important components in evaluating the MBA programs---ranked 7th. Because of the relatively short history of the School, we are a bit behind within the category of Reputation; however, it is meaningful that we are placed in Top 10 for the categories of Full-Time, Part-Time and Executive programs." Said Dean Soung Hie Kim. The KAIST Graduate School of Management was established in 1996 and was first of its kind to introduce the technology-based MBA Programs in Korea. The School offers specialized MBA programs: Technology Management, Financial Engineering, Management Information Systems, Telecommunication Management &Policy and Green Management & Policy.
