OPI Test for the new graduate school students2005-01-17Hit:11520

To the 2005 New Graduate School Students of KGSM Congratulations on being accepted to KAIST’s Graduate School of Management. Professors Joe Dewberry, Asif Siddiqui, Michael Roberts and Betty Chung of the International Center would like to welcome you and we are anxious to support you during your studies at KAIST. The goal of the International Center is, as the name implies, to help our students become part of the global community. Part of the process of globalization is language proficiency. Therefore, before March, all of you will visit us at the International Center for an oral proficiency interview. The interview is a one-on-one discussion for thirty minutes with a native speaker of English. There is nothing you need to do to prepare. Just come in and speak with one of us. We will evaluate your proficiency and, based on your level, we will advise you on classes you may need to take. KGSM has established a benchmark rating as a minimum requirement for its students. Any non-native speaker at this level, called Advanced Speaker, is able to live and work in a country or a company where English is the dominant language. Any student who is not an Advanced Speaker is required to take language proficiency classes with the International Center. The maximum number of required classes is two, but any student can request an oral proficiency interview at a designated time. Testing will take thirty minutes for person. The location is the third floor of the SUPEX Building, Rm. S321. Your interview time is listed on the KGSM Bulletin Board. Since it is extremely difficult to change the schedule, keep the time that is listed for you. Please plan on being with us for 30 minutes. In case of an emergency, or if you have any questions, contact Ms. Lee Hyang Sook at the International Center between 9:00 and 6:00 PM. Her number is 02-958-3241. We look forward to meeting you. Sincerely, Betty Chung Professor Global Leadership Institute
