2008 Winter Course Change & Cancel2008-12-24Hit:6477

The following is a notice for course offerings and course change & cancel for 2008 Winter semester. Please keep the schedule in mind and do not miss the scheduled period. 1. Course change period : Dec. 29 (Mon) 12:30 ~ Jan. 2 (Fri) 23:59 (for 5 days) 2. Available credit : maximum 9 credits(including research credits) (same for undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D programs) 3. How to : Through Web or CAIS system # Through Web: Please access to http://kaipa.kaist.ac.kr ※ CAIS System : Access to Portal → Login → Put the mouse on ‘cais’ at the upper right side of the screen → Click on the number that is shown ※ Students who did not register for Winter courses during the registration period are also allowed to register during the Change & Cancel Period using the web system.(Within the student number limit of each course) 4. Change procedures 1) Access to Web(http://kaipa.kaist.ac.kr) or Portal(http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) 2) Print out as hard copy after finishing the change or cancel. 3) Submit the hard copy to your major office after getting approval from advisor professor. (If your faculty advisor has not been decided yet, please leave it blank.) 5. Notice 1) You are allowed to make changes only during the designated period. 2) Proxy is not available, you have to access by your own ID.(Reference phone number about Portal ID: Tel. 042-350-5276) 3) Those who are scheduled to graduate this semester cannot register for Winter classes 4) Re-registration is not available unless you are a graduate or Ph. D student who received a ‘F’ grade in required courses(Mandatory general courses, Mandatory major courses). 5) Individual research for the undergraduate program will be open for all departments. Students can sign up for individual research based on guidance by a thesis supervisor or a supervising professor of a given academic field regardless of the number of credits they have acquired so far. 6) Graduation research will not be open for winter school in compliance with the guidelines for operating research subjects in the undergraduate program. 6. Rules for cross course registration among different graduate schools 1) Students enrolled in each school will be granted priority when enrolling in courses provided by the school. Therefore, students from other schools may be constrained from enrolling in courses with restriction. 2) If you want to take courese from other graduate schools, you should confirm your registration from June 12(Thu) to June 13(Fri). Courses confirmed before the designated period(6.12~6.13) could be cancelled. 3) When enrolling in courses provided by schools other than the school that you are registered in, you will need an approval from the instructor in charge of the course.(The sign of the instructor is needed on a Hard copy) 4) You are allowed to take up to 3 credits per semester, which equals to maximum 12 credits in total. 7. Tuition for winter school and retaking fee 1) Who should pay : Undergraduate students 2) When : Dec. 22, 2008 (Monday) to Jan. 2, 2009 (Friday) 3) Amount - Tuition : 100,000 won per credit (Those who are taking “individual research” of the undergraduate program must pay tuition as well) 4) Where : At Woori Bank on campus along with a payment form 5) For those who fail to pay tuition within the specified period : Registration of the class(es) for which tuition (and retaking fee, if any) is not paid in full within the specified period will be regarded as cancelled (“w” will be marked on the report card), and the list of the students who fail to pay will be sent out to their respective deans and supervising professors. 8. Course cancel period : Jan. 5, 2009 (Monday) to Jan. 7, 2009 (Wednesday) 1) How : Registration can be cancelled via web or CAIS system. 2) The system will be open from 12:30 on the first day of the registration to 23:59 on the final day of the registration. 3) Procedure : Same as the procedure for changing the registration 4) Remarks - Students cannot sign up for another class during the cancellation period and can only cancel (a) class(es) already registered. ※ Cancellation is never allowed at any time but the specified cancellation period. - The class(es) cancelled during this period will be excluded from grade evaluation and will be marked as “w,” which stands for “withdrawal.” 9.
