President Lee says “Human Resources for Green Growth are going to be Fostered at KAIST”

On October 23rd, 2012, President Lee Myung-bak said, “KAIST Graduate School of Green Growth is going to be founded in order to foster a talent pool for green growth.” On that day, President Lee attended the opening ceremony of the Global Green Growth Organization (GGGI) at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, celebrating its beginning as an international organization.

KAIST Graduate School of Green Growth will offer two programs: ‘Green Policies’ which fosters decision makers leading green growth in the domestic as well as the international community, and ‘Green Management’ which fosters professional managers reforming existing industries and creating green growth industries.

Accepting 40 students in 2013, KAIST Graduate School of Green Growth will expand its students to 200 by 2018. Especially, in the long run, KAIST Graduate School of Green Growth plans to cooperate with world renowned universities such as Harvard University, London School of Economics, Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) and Tsinghua University.

President Lee emphasizes that GGGI should be a hub for devising and implementing policies and development strategies that developing countries are in desperate need of. For this reason, he presents five principles: action-oriented organization organization producing actual results organization developing public-private partnership organization cooperating closely with other international organizations organization with exceptional internal capacity.
