On the 27th August, KAIST Business School hosted the 멬iley Leadership Fair 2007? featuring Dr Barry Posner. Dr Posner is the Dean of the Leavey School of Business, at Santa Clara University, in the United States. He is the co-author of the award-winning and best-selling leadership book: The Leadership Challenge. Described as a groundbreaking research study, The Leadership Challenge combines keen insights with practical applications and captures both why and how leadership is everyone’s business. Now in its third edition, with over 1.3 million copies in print, this book has been the featured selection of several book clubs, named book-of-the-year by the American Council of Health Care Executives, received the Critic’s Choice Award from the nation’s book review editors, and translated into over 15 foreign languages. The Leadership Practices Inventory has been called 뱓he most reliable, up-to-date leadership instrument available today.?Dr Posner has also co-authored several other award-winning, inspiring and practical books on leadership: Credibility: How Leaders Gain and Lose It, Why People Demand It; Encouraging the Heart: A Leaders Guide to Recognizing and Rewarding Others; The Academic Administrator뭩 Guide to Exemplary Leadership, The Leadership Challenge Workbook, and Christian Reflections on The Leadership Challenge.
The half-day seminar was organized by Wiley Publications, in conjunction with KAIST Business School, under the guidance of Prof. Betty Chung (Director, Global Leadership Institute and International Center). Promotion and advertising was provided through the support of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), the European Chamber of Commerce Korea (EUCCK), and the Australia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (ANZCCK). Almost 120 senior executives, from a range of foreign and Korean companies, attended for this unique learning and networking opportunity. Included in the list of participants was Mr Fanus Schoeman, the Ambassador for the Republic of South Africa. Additional notable participants included Mr Kook-Jong Kim (Senior Executive Vice President of Citibank Korea) Mr Chris Brooks (Sales and Marketing Director of Philip Morris), Mr Kyung-Jin Kim (Director ?Ford Sales Service Korea), Ms Kimi Park (Director ?Business Development & Continuous Improvement of Novelis), and Ms Hyun-Ju Lim (Trade Commissioner for the Embassy of Canada). A number of KAIST Business School Alumni also attended the seminar to take advantage of this opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
Prof. Joe Dewberry presided over the seminar, with Prof. Sung-Joo Park officially welcoming Dr Posner, Ambassador Schoeman, and all participants. Prof. Ji-Soo Kim (Chairman of the Globalization Committee) also attended to further promote KAIST Business School through meetings with Dr Posner and other distinguished guests. Prof. Steven Jordan, a recently appointed finance professor, was also in attendance and played an important role in networking with visiting executives. Participants were given numerous opportunities to network before and after the seminar. Moreover, Dr Posner ran the learning sessions in an interactive manner, thereby assuring relevance to the participants.
The Atrium was made available due to its prime location and ideal networking environment. The Fair was extremely well received, with participant requests for KAIST Business School to host additional learning and networking opportunities, on a range of business topics.
