The commencement ceremony of the KOICA 2nd Group was held on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 at the Auditorium Building of KAIST College of Business. The 14 students’ families, friends, faculty, and staff gather together to celebrate the commitment of graduating seniors during their two years of training in KAIST.
Among many congratulatory remarks of guests, Academic Dean Tong Suk Kim particularly these points in his speech:
“I hope the rigorous graduate study in the KAIST College of Business fosters your growth in both knowledge and wisdom. There's much to learn about the global markets, financial policy, government budgeting and planning, and investment banking. But above all, keeping close relationships with people you’ve met in KAIST will be the greatest achievement of your campus life as we all know of course how valuable it is.”
This commencement ceremony was more than simply handing in certificates and taking photos. The graduates were able to truly celebrate the event and remember everyone involved in their education. (to view the event video)
The special farewell luncheon was offered on Wednesday, March 18th at Jeffery Café nearby KAIST College of Business for KOICA students. With opening remarks from Academic Dean Tong Suk Kim, a KAIST photo album and tumbler were presented as special souvenirs by KOICA Chair Professor Joo-Hoon Kim. Graduates in the Class of 2015 enjoyed an elegant luncheon all together with the best wishes of the former KOICA Chair Professor Ji Soo Kim. Participants said this luncheon made them feel more affection for KAIST, and they will remember it wherever they are. It was a meaningful experience to gather in place all together before going back to each country.
After the graduation, the members of this group of 14 students returned to their affiliated institutions. They include the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (Ghana), Ministry of Public Service and Labour (Rwanda), Ministry of Economy and Finance (Cambodia), Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of General Administration (Nepal), Bank of Uganda, Civil Society Organization of Palestine, and Central Bank of Yemen, among others
