KAIST, Moving the World From the Epicenter.
Surrounded by the first breeze of autumn of this year, the international students of the KOICA and regular program from FMBA were able to visit the place where years ago one of the most important factors for Korea’s economic development plan was established. On the morning of November 10th, the students left KAIST Seoul Campus with the aim of visiting KAIST Daejeon Campus.

Launched as the nation’s first science and technology graduate school, the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology started its operations in 1971 with the objective to satisfy the need of producing talents and foster elite human resources in science and technology.

With an extraordinarily wide and modern campus, this emblematic institution welcomed the visitors from the capital city. After enjoying an exquisite lunch, the students were able to appreciate the campus though a kindly organized tour led by student ambassadors from KAIST. Their charisma and enthusiasm helped the visitors enjoy this adventure, which was complemented with photos and smiles that painted their memories with exciting experiences. In words of Bhim Kafle, from the KOICA 2016 program, “The Trip to KAIST Daejeon was awesome; the happiness and kindness from the ambassador students made me feel like home. The library, the green areas, everything was wonderful.”

One of the moments that caused interest and surprise among the international students was the opportunity to experience the OLEV On-campus shuttle bus. The On-Line Electric Vehicle was developed by KAIST as an environmentally-friendly vehicle that tackled the need for a wireless charging technology for electric vehicles to reduce battery size and improve efficiency. This vehicle, that has enhanced KAIST’s reputation as a green transportation university, was selected as one of the World’s Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2013 at the World Economic Forum and one of the World’s Best Inventions of 2012 by the American weekly news magazine, Time.

Exhausted after a great journey through KAIST Daejeon Campus, accompanied by the enthusiasm of their adventure and technology experience on the OLEV shuttle bus, the students returned to KAIST Seoul Campus with the delight of having had a day full of emotions.
