A Ph.D graduate from KAIST Business School joined the faculty of a public university located in Augusta, Georgia, United States

Sang-Hyun Park joins the faculty of Business Administration at Augusta State University and will begin teaching from this August. After graduating from Daejeon Science High School, Professor Park studies Applied Mathematics at KAIST; he received his Ph. D. in Accounting at KAIST Business School.

During the last year of his Ph.D., he has been actively participating in seminars by academic organizations including the American Management Association (AMA) and the European Management Association (EMA). This naturally had led him to meet representatives from foreign universities, and finally he came in contact with a faculty member from Augusta State University.

KAIST Graduate School of Business has been actively recommending doctorial graduates to look at overseas employment. Since KAIST Business school was founded in 1996, 12 doctorial graduates have become professors in Switzerland, Australia and Singapore. Especially, three out of four graduates who received a degree in Accounting have succeeded to work abroad.

Professor Park said, "Seminars at KAIST Business School are performed in English and KAIST Business School builds good support system. For example, our travel expenses were supported when we joined the international conferences.”

He also explains that the trend in Business Administration is shifting from Finance toward Corporate Management and Accounting. “When Financial Engineering and Derivatives were hot issues, finance took on the central role of Business Administration. Since the financial crisis, however, Accounting, which analyzes corporate value, has taken on the leading role in management research since the importance of the real economy is emphasized. Under this circumstance, you can have good chances for employment if you catch this trend.” said Professor Park.
