KAIST College of Business held the 33rd International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF) at Hongneung Campus in Seoul from the 23rd to the 26th of June, 2013.
The International Institute of Forecasters (IIF) has annually held the ISF since 1981. It is the second time, after Hong Kong in 2009, that the ISF is held in Asia. 전덕빈, a professor of KAIST College of Business, led the ISF in Seoul, after competing with three other European countries.
The 33rd ISF, ‘Forecasting with Big Data’, discussed big data issues and forecasting issues related with the environment, medicine, politics, and economy. A study on forecasting is an integration of academic disciplines to reduce the uncertainty of the future. That leads to scientific and reasonable decision-making in corporate management and in setting policy. Also forecasting with big data is the latest trend in a study on forecasting.
Professor 전덕빈 said, “This international symposium on big data is a good opportunity both to promote Korea as an IT powerhouse and to demonstrate the potential in Korean forecasting society.”
