[Abstract]
We study how buyer power affects producers' incentives to share information with retailers. Using hand-collected data on the presence of retail price recommendations, whose role as information sharing device was recently highlighted in the literature, we find evidence that higher buyer power discourages information sharing. To explain our finding, we develop a simple model and show that full information disclosure is optimal only when buyer power is sufficiently low.
